San Diego was transformed into Middle-earth on Friday, as Prime Video debuted the highly-anticipated second season of the epic series. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The ensemble cast thrilled the 6,500 fans packed into the massive Convention Center hall with a brand new exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. The action-packed trailer focuses on the long-feared re-emergence of legendary villain Sauron, who announces the return of darkness and evil to Middle-earth after many years of maintaining peace across all realms. The trailer also highlights the creation of the titular Rings of Power, aided by Sauron’s powers of deception and manipulation.
Fans were also excited to catch glimpses of the many fantastical and sometimes scary creatures appearing this season, including a young Shelob, an army of Barrow-wights, the hill-troll Damrod, a sea worm, and even Ents! Cast members participating in the show’s Hall H panel were Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Ishmael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Tristan Gravelle, Sam Hazeldine, Emma Horvath, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Charlie Vickers, Benjamin Walker, and Daniel Weyman.

In season two rings of powerSauron has returned. Driven out by Galadriel without an army or allies, the emerging Dark Lord must now rely on his cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.

The official description says, “The new season immerses even its most beloved and vulnerable characters in a growing wave of darkness, challenging everyone to find their place in a world that’s rapidly teetering on the brink of disaster. As friendships grow strained and kingdoms begin to crumble, the forces of good – elves and dwarves, orcs and humans, wizards and harfoots – will fight even more valiantly to hold on to what means most to them: each other.”
Second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power The show is produced by showrunners and executive producers JD Penn and Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsay Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill and Jennifer Hutchison, co-executive producer and director Charlotte Brandstrom, producers Kate Hazell and Helen Shang, and co-producers Claire Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenys Mullins and Matthew Penry-Davey. Additional directors for Season 2 include Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper.
