Prime Video to Premier Musical Drama ‘Songs of Paradise’

Songs of heavenThe OTT platform announced on Thursday, on the prime video on August 29, a music drama inspired by the life and journey of the famous Kashmiri singer Raj Begum, announced the OTT platform on Thursday.

Produced by Excel Entertainment and produced by Apple Tree Pictures Production and Renzu Films Production, the film is directed by Los Angeles -based filmmaker Danish Renzu.

The film depicts the main character Noor Begum in the two different time periods in Saba Azad and Sony Razadan. It will also include Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chafdha, Tireuk Raina and Lilate Dubey in decisive roles.

Written by Renzu with Neeran Eynger and Sayana Kachro, the story comes up against the background of Kashmir and is described as a heart -wrenching story that mixes the indomitable spirit of music, disregard and Kashmir’s first major clabback singer.

Raj Begum began her journey as a wedding singer before becoming one of Kashmir’s most powerful female voices. Encouraged by her father, she joined Radio Kashmir in 1954, where her uninhabited, high-level and melodious voice, and a major personality of the station until her retirement in 1986.

The heart is celebrated directly for singing, Raj Begum’s music was seen as a symbol of freedom and cultural expression for Kashmiri women.

For his remarkable contribution to music, he was awarded the State Awards by Padma Shri (2002), Sangeet Natak Academy Award (2013), and Jammu and Kashmir Government (2009). He died at the age of 89 in 2016.

Rainzu, who directed films Half widow And IllegalSaid that the film is a tribute to Begum.

“The film tells an emotionally stirring story that is inspired by their music, heritage and patience, during a time when social restrictions are tied within both emotional and cultural to women. It is the story of a woman who dare to dream while dreaming.”
