Producers of Mardaani 3 strongly deny reports of ‘missing girls’ related to promotions, call the allegations unethical

New Delhi: Yash Raj Films (YRF) on Friday strongly refuted allegations on social media that the recent viral reports of “missing girls” in Delhi have been linked to the promotional strategy of the film Mardaani 3.

The controversy started after reports claimed a huge increase in the number of missing people in the national capital during the first 15 days of 2026.

These claims were quickly picked up by netizens and political figures, some of whom suggested that “Panic” was a calculated publicity stunt for the Rani Mukherjee starrer, releasing on January 30, 2026, as the film is based on the same issue.

When ANI contacted the production house, a YRF spokesperson, in response to queries, said, “Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old company founded on the core principles of being highly ethical and transparent. We strongly refute the ongoing allegations on social media that the promotional campaign of Mardaani 3 has deliberately sensationalized such a sensitive issue, and we have great confidence in our executives to share all the facts and truth at the appropriate time.” Will do.”

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police dismissed speculations about a rise in incidents of missing girls in Delhi, and clarified that they were being “promoted through paid promotions.”

Police said strict action would be taken against rumor mongers, adding that “creating panic for financial gain will not be tolerated.”

“After following some leads, we learned that the increase in cases of missing girls in Delhi is being publicized through propaganda. Creating panic for monetary gains will not be tolerated and we will take strict action against such persons,” Delhi Police wrote in a post on Twitter.

Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi on Thursday said that, compared to previous years, there has been no increase in missing reports in the city.

In fact, fewer such cases were reported in January 2026 compared to the same period last year.

Tyagi said in a video released by Delhi Police, “There is no need to fear or panic regarding missing persons in Delhi, especially children. Compared to the past, there has been no increase in filing of missing persons reports in Delhi. In January 2026, compared to the same period last year, there has been a decline in filing of missing persons reports. It is also noteworthy that Delhi Police follows the policy of fair and transparent reporting of crime.”

He said missing persons reports can be made not only at local police stations but also online or through ERSS 112. Under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Delhi Police gives priority to locating missing children and takes immediate action.

Dedicated missing persons squads in the districts along with the anti-human trafficking unit in the crime branch ensure effective action. Tyagi stressed that no organized gang has been found involved in the cases of missing children or kidnappings.
