New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s philanthropist branch, Mir Foundation, has stepped into steps to support flood affected families by distributing necessary relief kits and supporting their rehabilitation.
Punjab is currently facing one of the worst floods in recent years, which has displaced thousands of families. To address the crisis, the Mir Foundation announced that it was collaborating with local NGOs to provide significant assistance to the needy people.
Relief kits include drugs, hygiene supply, food items, mosquito nets, tarplin sheets, folding beds, cotton mattresses and other requirements. The objective of this initiative is to reach 1,500 houses in Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka and Ferozepur districts, which provide immediate health, safety and shelter assistance to the families helping rebuilding their lives with dignity.

Shahrukh Khan on Punjab flood
Earlier last week, Shah Rukh Khan had expressed solidarity in a hearty post with the people of Punjab on X (East Twitter): “My heart comes out for those affected by the destructive floods in Punjab. Sending prayer and power … The soul of Punjab will never break … God can bless them all.”
Bollywood and Punjabi stars are involved in relief efforts
Actor Akshay Kumar has promised 5 crores for flood relief, describing it as an Act of service instead of donations. Global star Diljit Dosanjh has adopted 10 villages in Punjab’s Maja region to focus on long -term rehabilitation efforts.
Punjabi actor-singer Ammi Virk is leading a project for the reconstruction of 200 houses for displaced families and has postponed the release of her upcoming film with Sonam Bajwa to dedicate time to relief work. Bajwa has also increased support through donations.
Actor Sonu Sood has urged fans to contribute generously, while his sister Malvika Sood is leading the on-ground relief operations.
Other Punjabi celebrities, including Gippy Grewal, Karan Auzla, Babu Mann, and Ranjit Bawa, have also contributed significantly from providing seals to cattle to donate their foreign tour for relief efforts.
Many Bollywood figures, such as Sanjay Dutt, Karan Johar, Siddharth Malhotra, Kapil Sharma and Bharti Singh have voiced their solidarity and appealed more contributing to helping Punjab to cure.
Flood situation in Punjab
The floods, which began after a drastic decline in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir between 26 and 29 August, overflowed the rivers like Sutles, Beas, Ravi and Ghaggar. Districts including Ferozepur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Kapurthala had huge impact, thousands of acres of farm submerged and countless families were forced to vacate.
Punjab continued during the war, with relief and rehabilitation efforts after the war.
