Stampede at the screening of Pushpa 2: Without naming Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi criticized him for his “insensitive” behavior and “lack of responsibility” after the stampede at the premiere of his blockbuster film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ in Hyderabad.
While addressing the Telangana Assembly, Owaisi accused the superstar and said that when he came to know about the stampede and the death of a woman, he smiled and said that now the film will be a big hit.
On the Sandhya theater incident, Akbaruddin Owaisi said, “I do not want to take the name of that famous film star, but as per my knowledge, when that film star was told that there was a stampede outside the theatre, two children Have fallen and a woman has fallen.”, then the star had said smilingly that ‘the film is going to be a hit now.’ Despite this, he watched the entire film and was waving to the crowd while leaving. He is giving the message that the government is doing injustice…He did not even bother to go and inquire about their (injured) condition.”
Responding to the issue after Owaisi raised it in the Assembly, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, citing the viral video, blamed Allu Arjun for organizing a road show and waving to the crowd despite the huge crowd.
Reddy on Saturday alleged that despite not getting police permission, top Telugu actor Allu Arjun visited the theater here where ‘Pushpa-2’ was shown on December 4.
The CM alleged that the actor did not leave the cinema hall even after the death of a woman in the stampede, following which the police had to forcibly throw him out.
Telangana further said that the theater management had submitted a letter to the police on December 2 demanding security for the visit of top actors and others on December 4. However, the police rejected the application citing difficulties in crowd management and the fact that the theater had only a single entry and exit.
Allu Arjun responded to the allegations
Responding to the allegations against him, Arjun said that it was not a road show or procession. I just waved at people and went inside the theatre: Allu Arjun on CM Revanth Reddy’s comments. Addressing the allegations, he also said that the allegations leveled against him are defamatory and his character is being assassinated.
