Mumbai: The stampede incident at Sandhya 70mm theater in Hyderabad during the screening of Pushpa 2 has turned into a significant controversy involving Allu Arjun. The tragic incident, which occurred during the actor’s theater tour on December 4, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Mogudampally Revathi, and serious injuries to her 9-year-old son, Mr. Tej. Doctors have now declared Mr Tej brain dead, further increasing the seriousness of the situation.
A stampede broke out due to overcrowding at the theatre, where fans had gathered in large numbers to watch Allu Arjun and his family. Revathi and her son, who were having trouble breathing due to the chaos, were saved by on-duty police officers by giving them CPR. Revathi was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while Mr Tej was shifted to KIMS hospital for advanced treatment.
Doctors have revealed that Mr Tej’s condition remains critical. He is brain dead and dependent on ventilator support, with no sign of neurological improvement. A tracheostomy is being planned to assist his breathing, but his recovery is expected to be long and uncertain.
Allu Arjun, who was arrested after the incident and later released on bail, has expressed his concern for the family, but has avoided meeting them due to the ongoing legal proceedings. In a statement on social media, he offered prayers and promised to assist with the boy’s medical needs and the well-being of the family.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s father, Tollywood producer Allu Aravind visited the hospital with government approval and promised full support for Mr Tej’s recovery. Speaking to the media, he stressed the family’s commitment to supporting the boy during this difficult time.
Hyderabad City Police has issued a show cause notice to Sandhya Theatre, raising questions over their preparations and crowd management for the event. Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand and Telangana Health Secretary Dr Christina are also keeping a close eye on the case.
The incident has raised questions over event management and crowd control in the presence of celebrities. It also outlines the responsibilities of organizers and public figures in ensuring the safety of their fans during large gatherings. As the legal proceedings continue, Allu Arjun’s involvement remains under investigation, with many waiting for further developments in this tragic case.
