Telangana’s premier cultural event ‘Qadir Ali Baig Theater Festival’, which is in its 20th edition, will be held over three weekends starting from November 14 this month.

There is a whole range of work from stalwarts Mahesh Elkunchwar, Alaknanda, Sharmila Tagore, Anupam Kher, Mohan Agashe, Lillete Dubey, Baharul Islam and Swapna Mandal from different parts of the country. At the other end of this artistic spectrum are the young contemporary works of newcomers Junaid Khan (son of Aamir Khan), Zahaan Kapoor (grandson of Shashi Kapoor), Aniruddh Sarkar (disciple of the late Usha Ganguly). Faizeh Jalali and others.

Festival curator and designer Mohammad Ali Baig said that this year they are moving towards the next generation, who will take this performing art forward. “It is a perfect tribute to theater legend Qadir Ali Baig, who envisioned Hyderabad as a theater vibrant city in the 1970s.”

The festival includes plays, master classes and workshops. It will be held on November 14 at the State Art Gallery, on November 15 and 16 at Shilparamam and on November 27 to 30 at Taramati Baradari.
