Actor R Madhavan recently opened his memorable role as a college student in ‘3 Idiots’, a film that resonates with the audience after years of its release.
In a chat with NEWS18, Madhavan shared his initial inconvenience, which now-It-Econic Prince Hirani portrays a very small character in the film.
Madhavan on playing college students in 3 idiots
The actor accepted his anxiety during the film’s production, “I was doing 3 Idiots when I was 40 years old, when I was doing 3 Idiots. Oh God!
The 2009 blockbuster starred Madhavan with Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi as engineering students navigating the average Indian education system. While the three were beyond the age of the college – Aamir 44, Madhavan 39, and Sharman were 30 – his confident demonstrations won the hearts throughout the board.
“We used to look smaller than students”
Looking back, Madhavan shared an entertaining moment from shooting, helping to reduce his concerns. “But the strange thing was that when we went to college and entered our dress, we looked less than the real students.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, ‘3 Idiots’ not only won critical praise, but also became the first Hindi film to cross the 400 million mark at the global box office. The film, in which Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani were also shown, became a cultural event and quoted and referred after a decade.

He is also part of the Day Day Pire Day 2, starring the 2019 hit by Ajay Devgan and Rakul Preet Singh. Directed by Ansul Sharma, the film is slapped for a dramatic release on 14 November.
