Rahul Bhat criticizes ear to prioritize fashion; Internet echoes it as ‘circus’

New Delhi: Actor Rahul Bhat, whose films have been officially elected at the Cannes Film Festival twice, has voiced the growing pose on the growing emphasis on the material. In an interview with Brout India, Rahul expressed how the festival is once fully celebrated for its cinematic excellence, now seen by red carpet glamor and celebrity appearance.

While reflecting his own experiences, Rahul said, “People come here to take pictures on the red carpet. But I am proudly saying that I have gone to the red carpet. Is it not some value? Instead, I want to indicate the difference and tell people that I was part of the official selection.” He emphasized that his presence in the ear was earned through the merit of his films, not for fashion or publicity stunts.

Rahul shared the struggle to be recognized for his work instead of showing: “I went to the red carpet for real, not for fashion. Not to take pictures, not for PR machinery. I went to the real red carpet. I premiered here.

The actor’s feelings resonate with many online, where users have reduced the alleged loss of festival reputation. An Instagram user commented, “It is no longer relevant now …. before this film used to be unique, anyone can now go there, so its importance is lost.” Another wrote, “This is the time Kans comes to know that it is a corn of a film, not a pop assembly.”

Some critics have described the ear as “circus”. “Seeing such a reputed film festival turning into a circus” and “Cannes has turned into a circus! So unhappy comments were common. A user compared the festival to a fashion gala: “They have converted a film festival into a ramp walk, at this point the Gala met the knockoff.” A humorous comment stated, “Soon the affected Nobel will also go to the award ceremony … and when this happens, we should know that the end is near.”

Since Cannes attract a mixture of filmmakers, famous celebrities and affected, debate on its identity and focus is the same between cinefiles and internal sources of the industry.
