Mumbai: Bollywood star Ajay Devgan said on Tuesday that the Hindi film industry is struggling to understand the developed taste of the audience in the post Kovid Yuga, assuring that the filmmakers are trying to find out things.
The actor was speaking at the trailer launch of “Raid 2”, the sequel to his 2018 film “RAID”.
In the sequel to Raj Kumar Gupta, Devgan repeats the role of IRS officer Ami Patnaik.
“We are still struggling. We are not sure (about) what will happen to the audience (theater) and what not. But we feel that we have an idea of how the audience has been developed and changed during the epidemic. Also, the high risk of international (material).
Devgan, 56, said that the problem is not limited to Hindi cinema.
He said, “It is not that Bollywood films are not working. Movies from all over the world are doing some work and some are not doing. It can be Bollywood, it can be the South film industry or Hollywood. The situation is similar everywhere,” he said.
Asked whether ticket pricing was responsible for low footfall, “Singham Again” the actor said that it was not so.
“I don’t think (ticket pricing) is the reason for this because if the audience is coming, they are coming at the same price. I think the audience is deciding which film is to be seen and not to see …
“The audience is not attracted to (promotion). They want material. If your trailer or teaser (is liked by the audience), or if they like the songs, the audience definitely comes. Originally, it all boils all that they want to see and if they are receiving it in the trailer or not,” they said.
According to the manufacturers, “RAID 2” “will celebrate the unuser heroes of the Income Tax Department and tell a true case from their books. It will also include Vani Kapoor and Rajat Kapoor in Pivatal roles along with Ritish Deshmukh in the role of Pratiya.
