Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra wrote a note on Instagram requesting media personnel not to drag his wife and actor Shilpa Shetty’s name amid the alleged Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at his house.
He wrote, “To whom it may concern, while the media is fond of drama, let’s set the record straight: I have been fully following the ongoing investigation for the last four years. As far as As for the claims about ‘collaborators’, ‘pornography’ and ‘money laundering’, let us assume that no amount of sensationalism will cloud the truth that, in the end, justice will prevail.”
He said, “It is unacceptable to repeatedly drag my wife’s name into unrelated matters. Please respect the boundaries.”
The ED investigation pertains to allegations related to distribution of adult films.
Earlier, Shilpa’s lawyer had issued a statement saying that she ‘has no connection with any crime.’
In a statement, lawyer Prashant Patil described the reports as “misleading”.
“There have been reports in the media that my client Smt. Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true and are misleading. As per my instructions, there has been no raid by the Enforcement Directorate on Smt. Shilpa Shetty Kundra. He has no connection with any crime of any nature,” the statement said.
Patil also said that there is an ongoing investigation regarding Raj Kundra and he is cooperating with the authorities.
However, the matter in question is an ongoing investigation in relation to Mr. Raj Kundra and he is cooperating in the investigation to bring out the truth,” he said.
The lawyer also requested media persons to avoid using Shilpa’s photographs and videos while mentioning the case in reports.
“I would request electronic and print media to refrain from using videos, pictures and name of Smt. Shilpa Shetty Kundra as they have nothing to do with this matter. Strict cognizance will be taken against irresponsible journalism in which Smt. Shilpa Kundra agrees to the matter,” the statement concluded.
