The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) nominated the musician and nomination member of the upper house, Ilaiyaraja, who first to become Indian, record and perform a full English classical symphony first to become Indian.
Famous musician gave Symphony title Brave In London with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on 8 March.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar said that Mr. Ilaiyaraja composed symphony in 34 days, which is a unique achievement. Mr. Dhankhar said that the whole nation and people are proud of their work.
“Achievement is still another will for his permanent talent and global appeal,” Mr. Dhankhar said by members in the Rajya Sabha amid applause.
Five decades work
The Vice President said that the music of Shri Ilaiyaraja has shaped Indian cinema for five decades.
“As reverence Isaignani – The Musical Genius – His extraordinary mastery of combining classical traditions with contemporary sounds has given rise to timeless tunes crossing generations and borders. His compositions are very beyond songs; These are deeply felt feelings that have touched millions, ”said Mr. Dhankhar.
He said that the mythical musician has composed more than 8,600 songs, besides being the only musician in the world, besides composed of music for about 1,523 feature films in nine languages.
“The unique contribution to Shri Ilaiyaraja ji’s music has been accepted and recognized, including five national film awards – three for three best music direction and two for the best background scores and two for the best background scores. Trinity College of Music, one gold medal winner in classical guitar from London, he has elevated Indian music for global recognition,” He has elevated Indian music, “he said that he has elevated Indian music for global recognition.”
He said that the country had honored Shri Ilyyaaraja by honoring Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhan and his remarkable heritage recognition.
Shri Ilaiyaraja is a member of Rajya Sabha since July 2022.
