Ramanwamy’s music re -fills the city, as 119 -year -old Ram Bhakta, Bangalore’s oldest festival banner, shut down his annual program of seasonal music and sermons. The current assembly president CV Venkatesh says that the festival which started from March 30 will end on 7 April.
The gathering took rooted in Bethamangala, Kolar district and later found its way to Bengaluru. Venkatesh says, “We do not remember a single, weekly Saturday hymn over all these years,” Venkatesh says, which has been impressing the activities of the assembly and annual Ramothswa for more than three decades.
The Ram Bhakta Sabha was founded by CV Subba Rao, a learned person who was religious in music and deeply. His passion inspired him to keep tunes and discourses, even if he had to arrange money. Venkatesh says, “In the early 1900s, my grandfather, known as compounder CV Sabba Rao, would request patients to contribute to the assembly, but never accepted the fee for his services.”
Since Subba Rao’s life mission was to present both spiritual and classical tunes to Ramothswa, he was particularly congregation, followed the same principles. Venkatesh explains, “He had taken a pledge from my father CS Vasudev Rao that the congregation would be run with an undercore of devotion, and would be a good solution of cultural arts from Karnataka,” Venkatesh said while recalling his father’s efforts after Sabba Rao’s wishes. “My father was also advised to keep his salary separate for this purpose for a month.”
Ram Bhakta Sabha program started Devanama And Namasanakarethen, About 118 years ago, and gradually came to include all cultural arts, including Karnataka and Hindustani music.
Venkatesh says, “There were days when a contender for devotion like Madhav Das and Prahaldachar participated in our Saturdays.”
He says, “This year, our 119Wan There will be a diverse program in the version – the experts of the enlightenment such as Kalahpura Pavmanachar, Srihari Valvekar Acharya, Kheda Vedavyasacharya and Ayanur Madhusudhanachar will participate. While Ramvitalachara must be speaking VadirjathhiruA Harikatha ‘Rukmini Kalyan’ will be presented by Seitram Munikoti, as well as A Dasavani By Mysore Ramachandrachar.
A Yakshagana performance by the Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali, as well as devotional songs by Pranesh P Bhardwaj Slavery Sameera and the party will also be presented.
In the Vocal Section, the audience can expect classical music celebrations by Rachana Sharma, Kumari Varad Kulkarni, Shashprasad and Medha Vidyabhushan.
