New Delhi: In the upcoming reboot of the 2003 hit film “Ishq Vishk”, producer Ramesh Taurani is set to re-introduce audiences to the magic of young love with “Ishq Vishk Rebound”, directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari. Among the cast, one name stands out – Pashmina Roshan, daughter of composer Rajesh Roshan and cousin of Hrithik Roshan. Ramesh insists that Pashmina has landed her role purely on the basis of talent.
Recalling the audition process, he said, “We had no idea who she was.” “Pashmina was one of the 15 girls we had shortlisted, we had no idea who she was. It was only when we started signing her that we found out she was a Roshan. I had worked a lot with her father Rajesh Roshan, but he never called and asked me to consider her. Neither did Hrithik, who I have a good rapport with. In this industry, merit matters more than anything else, whether you are an outsider or a nepo kid. If you look from the 80s to now, there are some actors who have not succeeded despite their lineage. With the original Ishq Vishq, we launched Shahid, Amrita Rao and Shehnaaz Treasurywala. Shahid is a superstar today! Shehnaaz too was flooded with offers after the film. We are keen to do more films with these kids.”
The original ‘Ishq Vishq’ launched the careers of Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shehnaaz Treasurywala. Ramesh says the reboot starring Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibran Khan and Naila Grewal follows the same principle of introducing new talent. “We wanted newcomers. Rohit Saraf has tasted fame, but this will launch him as a mainstream hero. We held five rounds of auditions and selected him”, he said.
As the excitement for the release of “Ishq Vishk Rebound” mounts, all eyes are on Pashmina Roshan, whose journey from the audition room to the silver screen is an epitome of perseverance and passion.
