A total of 25 celebrities and social media affected by Sibrabad’s Miyapur police were allegedly booked to promote illegal betting and gambling apps, causing a financial crisis among the public.

The case was booked following a complaint by PM Fanindra Sarma, a 32-year-old businessman from Miyapur, who claimed that many celebrities and affected people were encouraging people to invest in gambling platforms through social media promotions and pop-up advertisements.
Mr. Sarma said that he became aware of the issue on March 16, 2025, while talking to the youth in his colony. He learned that many people lost their hard earned money on the betting and gambling app, supported by popular figures. Mr. Sarma himself was on the verge of investing in such a platform, but avoided a warning from his family.
The case was registered under Section 318 (4) and 112, which was read with the Indian Joint Code (BNS), Section 3, 3 (A), and 49 of the Telangana Gaming Act 49, and Section 66 (D) of the Information Technology Act. The police have initiated an investigation into the financial network behind these platforms and are investigating the limit of participation of celebrities in the alleged racket.
Actor reacts to allegations
After the case, Vijay Dawakonda’s team issued a statement clarifying their cooperation with a skill-based gaming platform. The statement confirmed that Deorasonda had signed a contract as a brand ambassador for the legally recognized skill-based gaming platform A23.
“This support was limited to regions and regions where online skill-based sports are legally allowed. After a completely legal review, he agreed to support the skill-based gaming platform A23, ensuring that their association was aligned with law standards. However, the term support, his support, ended in 2023, and he is no longer associated with the brand.”
In another statement, Rana Daggubati’s team stated that they entered a contract with a company to act as a brand ambassador for skill-based sports, which ended in 2017.
Later in the day, Prakash Raj took his X (East Twitter) account and reacted to the allegations in a video message.
“It was in 2016, I did an advertisement for a betting app. Within a few months, I felt it was not right. It was a one -year contract and when they wanted to renew it, I said, since then, I have not done any such advertisement,” Prakash Raj said in the video.
