Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has finally opened up about playing the role of Lord Ram in Nitish Tiwari’s two-part Ramayan and says he is excited to be a part of the film that tells “India’s biggest story”. Will present it again on the big screen. Ramayana will be released in two parts on the festival of Diwali in 2026 and 2027. The film is being produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios.
There were reports that Ranbir and Sai Pallavi will play the roles of Ram and Sita in the film. In a recent interview, KGF franchise star Yash said that he will play the role of Ravana in Ramayana. The makers have not confirmed the cast yet.
During an interaction session at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2024 in Saudi Arabia, Ranbir on Sunday said that he has completed shooting for the first part of “Ramayana” and will soon start work on the second part.
“To be a part of that story, I am very humbled to play the role of Ram. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is all about – family and husbandry.” Wife dynamics. I’m very excited about it,” the actor said.
According to the producers, “Ramayana” is a live-action film adaptation of the Hindu epic of the same name.
“This epic adaptation brings one of India’s best-loved stories to life with unmatched scale and visionary storytelling,” he said in a press release issued last month.
In an interview given to American outlet Deadline, Ranbir talked in detail about the film.
“It involves actors, producers and various crew members from all over the world. It is made in two parts. It is the story of Lord Ram and Ravana and it is the greatest story of India.”
“And telling it (the story) to the new generation with the kind of technology we have is a very exciting and gratifying opportunity for me as an actor, especially playing the role of Lord Ram,” he said.
The 42-year-old also gave an update on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal Park”, the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster “Animals”.
He said that the team will begin shooting Animal Park in 2027 and that Vanga and he are in talks for a third part of the franchise.
“I get to play two characters, the antagonist and the protagonist. It’s a very exciting project with a very original director.” The actor said that Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev, the follow-up to 2022’s “Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva”, is currently in the writing stage.
Ranbir is next set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Love and War” with wife and “Brahmastra” co-star Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, with whom he worked in “Sanju”.
