Team India are the champions of the ICC World Cup T20 2024. Rohit Sharma and his teammates made the country proud with their stellar performance on the field. They kept their composure and won the final against South Africa in spectacular fashion. From fans dancing on the streets to fireworks in the night sky, everyone had a chance to celebrate India’s thrilling win. Now, Ranveer Singh, who is known for his undying passion for the game, has shared a special note for the one and only Virat ‘King’ Kohli on Instagram Stories. The batsman announced his retirement from the T20 format of the game at the presentation ceremony after the match. Sharing a detailed note, Ranveer wrote, “The King has dropped anchor. What a perfect finale to an incredible career! Virat Kohli.” Kohli took over the innings after Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav fell early. Kohli kept things under control and played a crucial knock of 76 runs off 59 balls. He also won the Player of the Match award.
Not just Virat Kohli, Ranveer Singh also praised the overall performance of Team India. He said, “Bapu [Axar Patel] With Axar Patel’s brilliant contribution…Bumrah…Jasprit Bumrah established as the greatest Indian fast bowler of all time.” For Suryakumar Yadav’s match-turning catch, Ranveer said, “Sky up with one of the most iconic outfield catches in the history of the game! Suryakumar Yadav.” The actor further added, “Arshdeep fought like a lion hearted warrior! Arshdeep Singh…Hardik – The Ultimate Redemption What a story! Veer! Hardik Pandya.”

In a follow-up post, Ranveer Singh talked about the “perfect tribute” to the Wall of Indian cricket – Rahul Dravid.
He wrote, “What a way to win. Almost lost everything. And then…fighting back. What a fitting tribute to one of Indian cricket’s greatest champions! Rahul ‘The Wall’ Dravid.”

For Rohit Sharma, Ranveer Singh said, “And for that boy…no words, just pure emotion.” The Indian captain has also announced his retirement from the T20 format.
