King says local artists are undervalued in India
Speaking about the underappreciation of local talent in India, King said, “People come for all those artists they connect with by heart, not by numbers. Ghar ki murgi dal barabar hoti hai logon ke liye. We are so influenced by western culture that we think they are the best at everything. There is a notion that western artists are naturally superior, which leads to undervaluing local talent. We only criticise our own people, not always but most of the time. We criticise our artists for every small mistake but don’t appreciate them enough when they do something good.”
He further added, “Look at what Diljit Dosanjh is doing and how he is representing us globally. Karan Aujla is on an India tour right now and 100,000 tickets were sold in Delhi within 48 hours. So yes, people are coming out for the people they are connected to from their hearts.”
