Malayalam rapper and lyricist Hirndas Murali, known as Vedan, is booked for rape on a complaint lodged by a young doctor, alleging sexual abuse on marriage promise.
In Ernakulam, Kerala, the throughouts police registered the case after contacting the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kochi City) of the petitioner on Wednesday (July 30, 2025). The police registered the case after recording the petitioner’s statement.

Allegedly, the petitioner came forward with the complaint when he came to another woman’s account, allegedly the same experience with Vedan.
Vedan faced allegations of sexual abuse in the past and at the same time ME during the height of the movement.
On April 28, 2025, Hill Palace Police in Kochi arrested Vedan along with eight other friends, allegedly six grams of hemp from his apartment near Whitela in Kochi. When he was released on bail in the case, he was immediately arrested by the Forest Department when he was found near a leopard pendant. He claimed that it was gifted to him by a fan. Later, he was also released on bail in that case.
Since then, he had run-in with BJP and Sangh Parivar organizations after a BJP councilor from Palakkad municipality, lodging a complaint against Vedan, alleging that his music defams Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promoted the division of caste.
Vedan also hit the Hindu Aikya Vedi’s KP Sasikala against the rap music culture. He said that the people opposing him seem to be troubled by politics that he was advocating. “Such reactions show that what I am doing is hitting the right points,” he said.
