Ujjain: Tamil actor Ravi Mohan attended the sacred Bhasma Aarti at the iconic Sri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain on the occasion of Kartik Purnima on Wednesday.
This divine ritual is considered to be one of the most important spiritual practices dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Ravi Mohan expressed his happiness after worshiping Lord Shiva at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain and said that he felt “energetic” after attending the Bhasma Aarti at the temple.

Ravi Mohan said, “I am very happy to be here at Mahakaleshwar Temple. I am feeling very energetic. It is a beautiful spiritual place. So many people come to God and He makes them all happy every time. Many people including the committee members and all the people here thank me very much for letting me come here. It has been a wonderful experience.”

Bhasma Aarti (offering of ashes) is one of the most revered rituals at the Mahakal temple, and it is performed during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 am and 5:30 am. According to religious beliefs, the wishes of the devotee who participates in Bhasma Aarti are fulfilled.

As per temple traditions, the ritual begins with the opening of Baba Mahakal’s kapat tadka, followed by a bath with Panchamrit, a sacred mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar and honey.
This is followed by the unique Bhasma Aarti and Dhoop-Deep Aarti before the Lord is decorated with hemp and sandalwood, which is accompanied by the rhythmic beat of the dhol and the resonant sound of the conch.
As far as Ravi Mohan is concerned, the actor was last seen in the film Kadhalikka Neramillai. The actor played the lead role opposite Nithya Menen.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Guru Purnima, thousands of devotees flocked to Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar to take a holy dip in the river Ganga, which is believed to bring prosperity and wash away sins.
Since morning, pilgrims from across the country gathered at the ghats to perform the holy rituals, reminiscent of the Kumbh Mela.
Devotees offered prayers and participated in Ganga Aarti, a major attraction of the festival.
