Rekha starring ‘Umrao Jaan’ has again mesmerized the audience with 4K restoration

Rekha starring Rekha has been restored in 4K resolution, and the Hindi film is ready to highlight its magic on the silver screen again in the era of re-reliefs. The film is directed by the visionary Muzaffar Ali, and is fully prepared to recover its place in cultural imagination through the big screen revival starting from 27 June.

To mark his re-reliefs, Muzaffar Ali is also unveiling a limited-sanskrit coffee table book, offering a rare back scenery in the construction of ‘Umrao Jaan’. It ever introduces personal anecdotes from photos, costume sketches, calligraphy, poetry, and sets, the book is an object of a collector and a deep reflective tribute to the film’s artistic vision.

Considering the re -release, Muzaffar Ali shared, “Umrao Jaan” was not just a film, it was a journey in the soul of a lost culture, a forgotten teheb. Through his pain, poetry and grace, we tried to revive an era, which he was an actor who was an actor. And in fact it was immortal.

Cinefiles, equally, will be released simultaneously with dramatic revival for students of cinema, cinema and lovers of culture.

The film is a lyrical exploration of love, loss and longing, and the portrayal of Rekha’s courtesy-Pietes stands as one of the best performances in Indian film history. She was also brought with the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.

Talking about the re -release of the film, Rekha said, “Umrao Jaan” is not the only film in which I have acted, she lives within me, breathes through me, still. At that time, none of us could imagine the timelessness of the film, the way it is watching an old love to see a big screen.

The 4K restoration of the film has been done by NFDC-NFAI under the National Film Heritage Mission, an initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

MD NFDC, Prakash Magdam said, “To restore ‘Umrao Jaan’, NFDC-NFAI has been working in collaboration with the film’s director Muzaffar Ali for almost a year. He was playing an important role in detecting the original negativities of the film. It was preserved in NFAI for decades”.

“It has been a case with several recent restaurants of Indian films, where the only good source in India’s national film collection is alive. 4K Restoration of Restoration was monitored by Muzaffar Ali, and I am sure that the film lovers brought this restored cinematic gem in theaters to enjoy the nationwide.

The screening will start in selected PVR Inox theaters in several cities from 27 June.
