Bengaluru: Jailed Kannada superstar Darshan’s mother, brother, wife and son, who had not visited him till now, met him on Monday at the central prison in Parappana Agrahara on the outskirts of Bengaluru city.
Police sources confirmed that Darshan’s mother Meena, brother Dinakar, wife Vijayalakshmi and son Vinish came to meet him on Monday morning.
Both Darshan and his mother Meena got emotional during the meeting and the actor’s brother consoled them both.
However, the preference given to family members in allowing darshan has sparked controversy in Karnataka.
It is noteworthy that Darshan’s family did not meet him during police custody and even after he was transferred to jail.
Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda and 15 others have been arrested for the murder of Renukaswamy, 33, a resident of Chitradurga, whose wife is pregnant with the couple’s first child.
Investigation revealed that Renukaswamy, a big fan of Darshan, had sent abusive messages to Pavithra Gowda on social media.
The victim was allegedly abducted, brought to Bengaluru, kept in a shed and tortured and killed.
Darshan is in judicial custody till July 4.
