On the surface Viratapalem: PC Meena ReportingThe Telugu web series from Zee5 can make some promise. Meena (Abrigna Vuthaluru), a young female constable who is new to a village, is determined to get to the bottom of the story when she suspects that the incidents of crime involving women are easily written as a curse on the village.

For those who often do not tune in digital space, the story may keep some conspiracy. However, the broad story is on the lines of similar narratives in web series and cinema, which is late. Buding of writer-director Surya Wangla Telugu Crime Thriller VrindaStarring Trisha, an example of a complicated story of solving crime is also bare of the hero’s internal struggles. Prakash Dantaluri’s Telugu film YevamUnder the leadership of Chandini Chaudhary, a woman is another example of a Dalit story of police that punches her weight.

Viratapalem: PC Meena Reporting Is in a similar field. Directed by Krishna Poles, the series features Vikram Kumar Kandimalla’s screenplay and Divya Tejashwi Pera. While no one expects each story to break the new land, a layered story helps the audience interested on several episodes. Finally, long format storytelling is a place that can help writers and directors beyond the boundaries of the mainstream cinema, without the crutches to complete the box office. Here here Viratapalem Wobbles.

The story comes out in a pre-smartphone era. Seeds for the story are sown through an event in the early 1980s when a young bride throws blood and dies immediately after her marriage. Similar incidents are followed and people believe that the village is cursed. No one gets married in the village. Those who move to other cities do not return. Sometimes those who dare to marry in the village or get the post marriage with a sad end. Years later, fear and stigma remain.

The series each has seven episodes of a duration of 17 to 25 minutes. The first two episodes work to introduce major characters. It is no surprise to guess that the police station is a perfect, without solving more crime. Meena, who comes to the village with her mother, finds an unexpected colleague in Tiseller, Kittu (Charan Lakarju).

The needle of doubt points to some powerful men and women in the village; The story pack in a sub -gathering is due to a torn difference about a family that arises when a woman wants to marry a man with a different social level. Once these characters and their stories are revealed, the conspiracy stops. No assistant characters are written with depth. The story makes some characters suspicious and this repeil story tool becomes tired. Add it, none of other police officers are shown to do their duties with necessary tenacity. This lack of strong characters makes the story insipid.

Meena is going on in a straightforward manner about her investigation. Many shots are repeated in his view while drinking tea at Kitu’s stall. When it comes to marriage, its quick change is unrelated. Abhignya tries to shoulder to shoulder the series but the lack of depth in writing limits its scope.

The final episode raises a point about the lack of sympathy with which the society treats people who go through a crisis and which are considered auspicious or what not. However, the argument fails to attack a raga as the story investigates the mentality of barely involved characters.
