Rishab Shetty on audience’s response to his role in Kantara; I am just an actor, not a divine entity

New Delhi: Hombale Films, one of the top production houses in the country, has created a stir with the release of ‘Kantara’ in 2022. The film, which tells the compelling story of Panjurli Daiva, stars Rishab Shetty in a remarkably impressive role.

Rishabh’s exceptional acting made the audience see him as a deity, a character he played with utmost dedication. Despite this, Rishabh remains humble about this recognition and insists that he is just an actor.

In a recent interview with Times of India, Rishab Shetty discussed the audience’s reactions to his role as Daiva in Kantara. He said, “I don’t really know how to react to all this. It’s been almost two years since Kantara released.”

“At events, a lot of people come and fall at my feet, treat me with so much respect. I am at a loss for words when that happens. I am not some divine being; I am just an actor. What you saw in Kantara was my character, not me. I am indebted to the gods and people for their love, but please treat me like an artist. Reverence should be for the gods!” said Rishab Shetty

The actor also gave an update on the progress of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ and said, ‘A team of 600 people have been working continuously for four months in my hometown Keradi to set up the sets for Kantara Chapter 1. I didn’t get a moment to rest, but no complaints!’

He further added, ‘Looking at the expectations of the audience from Kantara Chapter 1, we decided that they should be given a fully loaded visual treat. So for the parts that required VFX, we wanted to include the best, so the studios that worked on films like Lion King and The Chronicles of Narnia have started work and the work is being carried out at a fast pace across the world including the US, UK and Bengaluru.’

Meanwhile, Hombale Films has an exciting list of upcoming releases, including Kantara: Chapter 1 and Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam.
