MUBI has officially announced the streaming release date for the upcoming short film Dammi, directed by BAFTA Award nominee Yann Demange. Starring Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed, the film will be available exclusively on MUBI worldwide from July 12.
Dammi The film premiered at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival and had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, receiving critical acclaim for its story and powerful performances. Written by Yann Demange and Rosa Attab, the film also stars Souheila Yacoub, Youssef Henein, and Oscar nominee Isabelle Adjani and César Award nominee Sandor Funtek.
The story follows a man, played by Ahmed, who returns to Paris in search of a connection to his estranged father, played by Youssef Henin. This deeply personal journey progresses through memories of his past and surreal fragments of the present, providing a search for identity and roots.

Dammi Produced by AMI Paris, AMI Paris founder and creative director Alexandre Mattiussi praises Demange’s vision for the film. “There was a strong desire to create an authentic cinema story. It was the beginning of an extraordinary adventure with Yannir Demange, a director I have admired for a long time. He made ‘Demmi’, a brilliant, touching, very intimate short film about his father and his childhood.
Ahmed won his first Oscar in 2022 for Anil Kariya’s live-action short film The Long Goodbyewhich he co-wrote and starred in. His first Oscar in 2021, he received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance in sound of metal.
