Scott is returning to direct the sequel starring Paul Mescal, known for “Normal People” and “Aftersun.”

Although he has no involvement in the new “Gladiator” film because his character dies at the end of the original movie, Crowe said he is unsure about any particular character’s “moral journey.”

“I’m a little uncomfortable with the fact that they’re making another one — because, of course, I’m dead and I have no say in what gets done. But from what I’ve heard, I’m like — no, no, no, it doesn’t delve into that particular character’s moral journey. But I can’t say anything, it’s not my place, I’m six feet under. So we’ll see how it is,” the 60-year-old said on the “Kyle Meredith With…” podcast.

The actor, who was 36 at the time of “Gladiator’s” release, said he remembers the time when he shot the film fondly. The historical drama proved to be a big change for Crowe.

“It happens in a funny way – I think back to the past: how old I was when I made that movie and what happened after that, the doors that movie opened for me. I’m just being totally honest: there’s definitely a tinge of sadness, a tinge of jealousy,” he said.

He then joked, “I remember when I had tendons.”

In a previous interview, Crowe said he felt “a little jealous” that he wasn’t part of the sequel.

The first “Gladiator” film centered on Crowe’s Maximus, who, after being forced into slavery, vows revenge on the usurping crown prince Commodus for the murders of his family and king.

The sequel will focus on the character of Lucia, son of Maximus, who is Maximus’ ex-girlfriend and Commodus’ sister. The film, starring Denzel Washington and Joseph Quinn, will hit the screens on November 22.
