Just weeks after Stray Kids revealed they were cooking up something special with their “best friends” Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman during their Deadpool & Wolverine South Korea tour, the K-pop group’s epic collaboration with the former has officially been revealed.
On Saturday, June 13 (KST), the eight-piece K-pop band released their first music video for their upcoming comeback, “Chak Chak Boom!” The much-anticipated video for the lead single of their upcoming mini-album, “ATE!”, will drop on Friday, July 19 at 1 PM KST.
Signaling the arrival of the octet’s new comeback next week, the Chak Chak Boom MV teaser captures them once again in their usual sizzling style. All the group members – Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and IN – appear to don charismatic personas for their cinematic videos, which boast the typically showcased high-production design value. This time, however, Stray Kids are not alone.

His dear friend Ryan Reynolds makes a surprise appearance as a TV news anchor at the beginning of the video.

The group’s Australian members Bang Chan and Felix introduced Reynolds and Jackman as “Stray Kids’ besties” after the broadcast together. “We are so excited to show you all our best stuff! Stay tuned,” the two excitedly enthused. Fans were lost in excitement as netizens went into deep speculation about what’s coming next.
Finally, the Deadpool star also shared a short video, calling Bang Chan and Felix “two of his favorite Aussies.” His social media post also poked fun at his longtime friend and co-star Hugh Jackman, as he wrote: “I successfully negotiated a trade. Wolverine will be the newest and only member of Stray Kids. And the whole band will be joining the MCU. We wish Hugh Jackman all the best on his K-pop journey.”

But who knows? Turns out Ryan had already dropped the bomb on us, and we never even knew. “As they say in Seoul: chak chak boom!”, he wrote in his initial video post on July 5.
The beloved Hollywood duo arrived in South Korea on July 3 to promote Deadpool and Wolverine. As part of one of their first high-profile events, Reynolds, Jackman and the film’s director Shawn Levy arrived for an interview in traditional Korean attire ‘Hanbok’. The interviewer immediately revealed the admirable fact that their clothes were actually designed by the same artist who curated Blackpink’s Coachella outfits. Hearing them say this, the Deadpool actor said, “Love Blackpink… and Stray Kids, we love Stray Kids.”
Reynolds first met Stray Kids leader, Bang Chang, via video call for a “Free Guy” interview in 2021. The Marvel actor has professed his love for the group on numerous occasions, so it was about time that he and the K-pop idol finally met.
When Marvel Korea’s official social media page shared a glimpse of the stars of the new Deadpool movie with Bang Chan and Felix, fans were left completely stunned. Speculation immediately arose as fans discussed the possibility of a Stray Kids OST for the upcoming July 26 premiere. Others also speculated whether the group members would make a star cameo in the upcoming film. However, it now appears to be the opposite case.
It remains to be seen if Australian actor Hugh Jackman will appear in the video alongside Reynolds. As far as the first Chak Chak Boom preview goes, it looks like Ryan is going it alone for this K-pop side quest.
Meanwhile, the Stray Kids’ potential appearance (in either form) in Deadpool and Wolverine could still reveal another blatant card up the stars’ sleeves, especially since Ryan Reynolds has already revealed that “the whole band will be joining the MCU,” even if only in jest. After all, he did spoil his own Chuck Chuck Boom cameo, so what’s stopping one of his unexpected spoilers from hiding in plain sight?
