Mumbai: Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is remembering Ustad Zakir Hussain.
On Thursday, the ‘Lord of Cricket’ shared an old video on his Instagram, in which he can be seen learning a percussion instrument.
While the late musician played the instrument effortlessly and tried to help Sachin learn the instrument, Sachin could not succeed in understanding the technique as his muscle memory has been conditioned by his training in the sport, making it difficult for anyone to learn the instrument. Also it becomes difficult for the player to understand the techniques for any art in the beginning.
Sachin wrote in the caption, ‘Memories with the maestro’.
Take a look at the post:
Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away on December 15, leaving a huge void in Indian music. Ustad touched many lives, young and old, people in positions of power and the common man. His influence on people was on such a scale that his death felt like a personal loss to many. Many members of the film fraternity also mourned his demise.
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar shared a picture of Zakir Hussain on his social media. He wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain Sahab. He was truly a treasure to the musical heritage of our country. Om Shanti.”
Veteran Tamil megastar Kamal Haasan shared an old picture of his ex, Zakir Hussain, on Twitter, in which the actor can be seen giving rhythm while playing the tabla. He wrote, “Zakir Bhai! He left very quickly. Yet we are grateful for the time he gave us and what he left us in the form of his art. Goodbye and thank you”.
Oscar and Grammy-winning composer AR Rahman called Zakir an inspiration and expressed regret at not collaborating with him in recent years.
He wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun.” Zakir Bhai was an inspiration, a great personality who brought Tabla to global fame. His loss is irreparable for all of us. I regret that I have not been able to collaborate with him as much as we did decades ago, although we had planned an album together. You will truly be missed. “May his family and his countless students around the world find strength to bear this immense loss.”
