Shariful Islam Shahzad, who has been in the news since January, has allegedly attacked actor Saif Ali Khan during an attempt to steal his Bandra house, filed a bail petition in the Mumbai session court.
In his petition, his lawyer, presented through Ajay Gavali, Mr. Shehzad claims that he is innocent and the case is coined against him.

The bail application states that the FIR was improperly registered. It also states that Mr. Shehzad has cooperated with a thorough investigation and all the evidence is already with the police, so that any tampering is impossible.
Currently the case is being heard in the Bandra Magistrate Court. However, it will be transferred to the session court after the police file a charge sheet. So far, the Bandra Police has not yet submitted a charge sheet.
Mr. Shehzad is accused of breaking up with the intention of robbing Mr. Khan’s house on 16 January. During the incident, the actor was attacked and serious injuries in his thoracic spine and other parts of his body. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was treated for five days before he was discharged on 21 January.

In February, the Mumbai Police claimed that they had enough evidence against the arrested accused. He also confirmed that he entered India from Bangladesh and stayed at various places in Kolkata before coming to Mumbai.
Earlier, Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjit Singh Dahiya denied the rumors that the fingers of the accused did not match. “Whenever an allegation is made, many evidences are collected against it. We have found very oral, physical and technical evidence against the accused … We have caught the right person,” he said.
