Mumbai: Actress Saira Banu recently recalled the memorable moment when former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally welcomed her late husband, legendary actor Dilip Kumar.
On Friday, Saira Banu shared a heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on her Instagram handle, depicting a memorable meeting that showcased his humility and respect for others. In her touching post she described him as a politician whose dignity and dedication to public service defined an era.
He posted an unseen picture of himself, Dilip Kumar, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sultan Ahmed. In the caption, the actress recalled how the former Prime Minister had personally welcomed Dilip Kumar with a warm smile as he stepped out of the car.

Saira wrote with this picture, ‘The silence of loss speaks louder than words today. Dr. Manmohan Singh, a statesman whose dignity and commitment to public service defined an era, has left us. His legacy is engraved in the annals of Indian history, symbolizing faith in the power of knowledge, resilience and inclusive growth. I clearly remember a chance meeting with Dr. Singh along with Dilip Sahab and Sultan Bhai.
She further added, “As soon as Dilip Sahab got out of the car, I was surprised to see the former Prime Minister himself coming with a gentle smile to personally welcome him. The scene that followed was equally heart-wrenching. Later when we entered his room there were only one chair around a small table which we could see in the pictures. Without a moment’s hesitation, Dr. Singh stepped aside, picked up another chair and politely gave it to Dilip Sahab. “This simple act, this quiet sense of respect, speaks volumes about the man.”
“Today, as the nation mourns his demise, we mourn the loss of humility, wisdom and a reflection of the best human decency. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the post further read.
On December 26, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at the age of 92.
