Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s recent Instagram post on the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation stirred up a controversy. Dr Cyriac AB Phillips, popularly known as ‘The Liver Doctor’, criticised the actress’ suggestion and called her “health illiterate”. Phillips has now apologised to the actress.

Earlier, Samantha had responded to the criticism, saying that she had “only suggested it with good intention”. Indicating that she was upset by Phillips’ words, Samantha said that she expected “compassion rather than provocation” from him.
“A gentleman has attacked my post and my intentions quite harshly. Said gentleman is also a doctor. I have no doubt he knows more than I do. And I’m sure his intentions were good. It would have been kind and compassionate of him if he hadn’t been so inflammatory with his words. Especially the part where he suggested I should be put in jail. Never mind. I guess that’s the point of being a celebrity,” Samantha wrote on Instagram.

On July 7, 2024, Phillips said in his post on X that he sympathizes with Samantha’s health situation. “I wish her all the best. If she felt uncomfortable or offended by the way the message was delivered, I apologize,” he posted. “It was unintentional. My intention was to get her to back off from the “doctors” who spread medical misinformation and are exploiting her vulnerabilities and taking advantage of her experiences to their advantage.”He added, “I seriously suggest that patients suffering from chronic diseases please continue to follow evidence-based medical practices to stay inside the safety net and shelter.”
In 2022, Samantha announced that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis. The actor was last seen in Happiness, Telugu film starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Shiva Nirvana.
