Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has reacted to criticism over one of her recent posts. The actress had recommended hydrogen peroxide nebulisation for the treatment of a viral infection. In response to her suggestion, Dr Cyriac AB Phillips, popularly known as ‘The Liver Doctor’, called her “illiterate about health and science” and said the treatment could have adverse health effects.
Defending her suggestion, Samantha wrote a lengthy post on Instagram, arguing that she is “not so naive as to strongly advocate any treatment, and has only suggested it with good intentions because of what she has faced and learnt over the past few years.”

“I have had to take a variety of medications over the past few years,” Samantha wrote in her three-page post. “I have tried everything that has been recommended to me. I did so on the advice of highly qualified professionals and after doing as much research on my own as is possible for a layperson like me.”
“Many of these treatments were also very expensive. I was always thinking about how lucky I was that I could afford it and about all those who couldn’t. And for a very long time, conventional treatments weren’t making me better. There’s a good chance this was just me and I’m sure they will work very well for others too.
“These two factors also inspired me to read about alternative medicine and treatments. And after trial and error, I found treatments that worked amazingly well for me. Treatments that also cost much less than what I would spend on conventional healthcare.”
Samantha further added that she had made a well-researched suggestion: “After all, we all have to rely on educated doctors for guidance. This treatment was suggested to me by a highly qualified doctor who is an MD, who has served in the DRDO for 25 years. After all his education in conventional medicine, he chose to advocate an alternative medicine.”

Referring to Dr. Cyriac, the actor said he was “being kind and not provocative.” “A gentleman has attacked my position and my intentions in quite harsh terms. The said gentleman is also a doctor. I have no doubt that he knows more than me. And I am sure his intentions were good. It would have been kind and compassionate of him if he hadn’t been so provocative with his words. Especially the part where he suggests I should be put in jail. Never mind. I think that falls within the purview of being a celebrity.”
In 2022, Samantha announced that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis. The actor was last seen in Happiness, telugu movieStarring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Shiva Nirvana.
