Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s father Joseph Prabhu passed away on Friday. Confirming the sad news, the actress wrote on Instagram, “Until we meet again, Dad”. The reason for his death has not been revealed yet.
As the news spread, fans and followers expressed their condolences. Actor Teja Sajja wrote, “May you find peace in the memories you shared with your father. My deepest condolences to you and your family members dear @SamanthaPrabhu2 garu.”

Samantha was born in Chennai to Telugu Anglo-Indian Joseph Prabhu and his wife Ninette Prabhu. She often talked about the support provided by her family during her difficult entertainment career. She was the youngest of three children with two elder brothers, Jonathan and David, and grew up in the Pallavaram neighborhood of Chennai.
In a recent interview with Hindustan TimesSamantha opened up about her “strained” relationship with her father. He previously shared how his father’s protective upbringing and tendency to downplay his abilities shaped his self-perception, leading to a lifelong struggle for validation.
In 2022, Joseph Prabhu reacted to Samantha’s divorce from actor Naga Chaitanya. In a Facebook post, she shared old wedding photos and wrote, “A long time ago, there was a story. And it no longer exists!! So, let’s start a new story and a new chapter.”
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya got married in Goa on October 6, 2017, and announced their divorce in 2021. Chaitanya is now preparing to marry actress Shobhita Dhulipala.
