The rise of re -release in Indian cinema is turning into a successful trend and suggests that filmmakers are more keen to overcome familiar stories rather than detecting fresh stories. This trend has become particularly clear with the record-breaking success of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ (2016). Harshvardhan Rane and Mavra Hocaine starrer have become the highest -grossing film in India. The film has separated the ‘Tambbad’ acclaimed by reviewers, which was at the top among the again in 2024 among the films again released.
Sanam Teri Kasam makes a record
‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ has shocked a trap of Rs 37.72 crore in 13 days, which has crossed its original dramatic earning of Rs 9.1 crore. The global box office figures for the film have been ahead of Rs 53 crore, which strengthens its place as the highest grossing film in India.
‘Tambbad’, who originally earned Rs 13.5 crore in his initial dramatic run, found a fully new audience during his four weeks of re -release. The film saw an extraordinary revival, which was Rs 13.15 crore in its first week in theaters. The pace continued in the second week, matching around Rs 11.5 crore with last week’s earnings, eventually shut down his run with an impressive of Rs 30.50 crore.
The Tamil blockbuster “Ghili,” was one of the first re-temples to break the Rs 30 crore barrier, starring Vijay and Trisha and directed by Dharni. Its resurrection also improved the re -release of mythological films like ‘Avatar’ and ‘Sholay’.

Sanam teri kasam sequel
Meanwhile, the huge demand for ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ has announced a sequel built by Deepak Mukut and Soham Rockstar Entertainment.
Director Vinay Sapru told Hindustan Times that the idea of ’Sanam Teri Kasam 2′ was conceived with the original film. He said, “Sanam Teri Kasam begins with a flashback. We wrote only Part Two of the film at that time. We wanted to move forward with another part, but unfortunately, whatever reason, we could not. Nobody said all this, while so far. This confusion is due to interview. I want to put it on record for all once and all: in 2026 there will be another story of love and promises on Valentine. ,
