In a career spread over 35 years, experienced guitarist-composer Sanjay Divecha has been a part of several bands, including notable with Zakir Hussain.
In the past, he played and performed for Dave Holland, Vinny Colluta, Chris Potter, Eddie Daniel, Shankar Mahadevan and Luiz Banks, Angelic Kidjo, Carlos Santana, Michael McDonald, Fred Raulston, Dave Vacle and more.
Sanjay, who has just released his new single album LeelaWent to the music school, but he says that his learning also came from being in the room with various musicians. He says, “Fortunately for me, I was always the weakest link among so many bands and is it a great place, you know?”

Of course, she is warm and humility that leads a long way in music. While he is often surrounded by fellow instruments and singers on stage, there will be a complete solo undertaking for Sanjay’s upcoming show in Bengaluru. Three intimate performances, two masterclasses and one hearing session is part of his journey program here.
Indian music experience will have a composition and improvised masterclass on July 6, followed by a single acoustic performance in the evening. On 7 July, Devicha will conduct another masterclass at the Bangalore International Center in Domoor and perform at the same place on 8 July.
On July 10, there will be a hearing session for Leela A final single acoustic performance at Ram’s Muskue on MG Road, and in the gathering on Kamraj Road on 11 July.
Mumbai-based Sanjay says he is happy to return to the city where he spent a few years and sometimes traveled. He says, “Opportunities to play single guitar concert are the events that I have been preparing for, and getting the opportunity to do so is something in Bengaluru that I am very happy about.”
While he will perform from LeelaSanjay says that he intends to combine it with music from his previous albums, while all leaves for improvisation. He says, “I will read a lot of it; I will read the room and design a set. Over time, I have become a little more comfortable in changing things in the moment.”
During the masterclass, there will also be some sport as well as the importance of a good foundation. Providing “technical information” is one thing, but therefore a patron or guide, Sanjay says. “I went to a music school, but I believe whatever important lessons I learned were from other musicians who directed me.”

Sanjay returned to India in 2003 after spending most of his lives in the United States after graduating from a musician institute at Los Angeles in 1989, became a stability in the country’s Jazz Circuit. In addition to being part of a band such as Merca, his own trio, and Sanjay Divecha and Secretary, he is working with emerging artists like Ananya Sharma, who says that he helped them co-produce Leela,
“He was the responsibility of ensuring the project,” he says, how important it is for another musician’s ears and production skills while cutting an album. Leela, Which is released in June, a single guitar-led trip, paying tribute to the liking of Jazz-fascinated veteran Jazz-fusing veteran John McLaglin and Bosa Nova Pioneer Antonio Karlos Jobim alias Tom as well as pianoist Karan Joseph.
Leela Tracks with singer Vasundahara V, Pianist Anand Bhagat, Pianoist-composer Harmet Mansate, singer-harmonium player Apoorva Petkar and others are included. Through their room, dynamic acoustic games, Sanjay and their allies not only take us to places that inspired them – from the Himalayas to Cameron and Brazil, but also with the intention of meditation.
In the album Note, he says, “The title refers to Divine Leela, joyful and playful, yet a deep task of creation.”
The artist is still among those who make Jazz (among other styles) in India and say that this music is encouraging schools, nourishing is still required. “I think decision makers must be bold enough to pursue these things, and we also need more places. There is no lack of talent, but needs to nourish it.”
