Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan finds himself at the center of a debate after his speedy recovery from a life-threatening incident. The actor was stabbed six times by an intruder at his Mumbai residence on the morning of January 16, an incident that shocked his fans and the film fraternity. After surgery, Saif was discharged on 21 January, just five days after the attack, which drew mixed reactions from the public and political circles.
Politician Sanjay Nirupam has expressed concern over the actor’s miraculous recovery. Speaking to ANI, he expressed doubt over Saif’s physical condition after the surgery. Nirupam raised questions as to how a person who had undergone a six-hour surgery could recover so quickly and return home. He commented, “The way Saif came out (of the hospital), it seems as if nothing had happened four days ago.” He said the public deserves clarity on the seriousness of the attack and the extent of his injuries.
Bollywood actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt came to Saif Ali Khan’s defence, calling the suspicion unfair. In an interview with ETimes, he highlighted the public’s tendency to let graphic media reports shape their perceptions of reality. “The details of the stabbing that emerged in the media created an image in people’s minds about Saif’s physical condition. That image probably did not match up with the visuals of seeing him walking out of the hospital on his own two feet,” she said.
He highlighted Saif’s resilience and reminded people that he had walked himself to the hospital despite being injured and in shock. “A man who gets himself checked into hospital in such a condition certainly has the courage to go out on his own. We should appreciate this instead of resorting to conspiracy theories,” Bhatt stressed.
