‘Sanju Weds Geeta 2’ movie review: Rachita Ram, Srinigara Kitty to star in a soulless sequel

Now, you might wonder why the two of them, who met and fell in love in a city, had to choose a secluded, even if picturesque, place to communicate something important but customary. This is where Nagasekhar reveals his priorities as a director. He is a filmmaker who relies heavily on exotic locales and melodious music to tell his stories.

You may also wonder why Geeta has such an old-fashioned opinion about relationships, especially when she met Sanju in a chance meeting and developed feelings for him. This shows that Nagasekhar is not going anywhere close to reality when it comes to love stories. The old-fashioned, fairy-tale romantic drama still fascinates her.

There is nothing believable in this poor-man-lover-rich-girl’s death story. Learning about his daughter’s relationship with a simple silk weaver, Geeta’s father reminds her of his so-called stature.

He tells her, “I gifted you a Rolls-Royce when you started school.” If this stereotypical portrayal of an evil father was not enough, the director created a stereotypical character for his hero. Writes the script. Sanju is a big-hearted person, helping the needy despite his low earnings. This generous mind influences Geeta.

The second part is another ploy to lure the audience. From the beginning we know that the story is heading towards a tragic end. Geeta is suffering from a life-threatening lung disease and the treatment of this condition in the film is ridiculous. The couple heads to Switzerland for a vital lung transplant, and before the momentous event, we see a duet set in some beautiful locations in Geneva. The director’s lack of judgment in handling the serious conflicts of his story affects the performances, with Rachita and Kitty looking clueless in many scenes.

Ramya/Divya starring Spandana and Kitty, The original was an ordinary film which was saved by Jassi Gift’s brilliant album and Ramya’s brilliant performance. Those were simpler times when songs decided the fate of films. The young crowd flocked to the theaters, influenced by the soulful tracks of Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.

Today, with ample exposure to films from around the world, it is hard to impress people. I have seen people crying in the theater after the climax of Nagasekhar Myna (2013). Kannada audiences have always loved heartbreaking stories. But with time, their demand for better storytelling has become stronger.
