He said, “Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose captivating acting always feels grounded and genuine, from genre films to summer blockbusters, and I couldn’t be happier to have her cast in this Exorcist film.”
He added, “The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker. And it’s an honor to have the chance to try something new, bold and terrifying within its universe. Reuniting with my friends at Blumhouse, with whom I’ve done some of my favorite work, makes it all the more exciting.”
Meanwhile, with the involvement of the Marvel star in the horror franchise, considering The Exorcist: Believer did not perform well at the box office, the makers are seriously considering an upcoming film.
The film grossed $65.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $136.2 million worldwide. Following the figures, NBC Universal, Peacock and Blumhouse acquired the rights from Morgan Creek in July 2021 for $400 million and the film’s director David Gordon Green withdrew his next installment.
