Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, attempted to blame the music legend’s alleged victim in a beating video caught on camera.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, attempted to blame the music legend’s alleged victim in the beating video caught on camera. Agnifilo referred to the woman as “Victim-1,” but it was clear he was referring to Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend.
What did Marc Agnifilo say about this incident?
The 2016 video showed Diddy kicking, dragging and beating Ventura in a hotel hallway. Agnifilo has now said the fight started when Ventura found something on Diddy’s phone that suggested he was cheating on her. The lawyer alleged that Ventura then hit Diddy over the head with his cell phone, put his clothes in a bag and walked out into the hallway.
“He left her at the hotel naked after hitting her over the head with a cell phone,” the lawyer said, the New York Post reports.
During a hearing on whether Diddy should be kept in jail until trial, Agnifilo told the judge that his client and Ventura had been together for ten years, but both had been cheating on each other. “These two people were in love,” Agnifilo said. But, “they had been cheating on each other for years.”
Agnifilo also alleges that later, Ventura’s attorney told Diddy she was writing a book referencing their tumultuous relationship, unless Diddy wanted to buy the “exclusive rights” to the story for $30 million.
Agnifilo also called Diddy a “fighter” and said he is innocent of the crimes for which he was arrested. He said they would appeal the judge’s decision to keep Diddy in custody without bail. “Mr. Combs is a fighter. He will fight this battle until the end. He is innocent,” Agnifilo said outside court.
“He came to New York to prove his innocence. He is not scared, he is not afraid of the charges. The government did not say anything in its presentation today that would influence anyone in any way,” he said.
