Selena Gomez hits back at critics saying she can’t get pregnant
“I truly believe there’s power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help or when you need help — it’s not shameful,” the Emmy-nominated star said in a now-viral video taken at the Women in Film dinner in Beverly Hills on Thursday night. “So yes, I shared that I can’t have a baby. Yes, I shared that I have bipolar. Fuck it. This is my life. This is who I am,” she continued.
This interview comes just a week after the 32-year-old star, who has been dating music producer Benny Blanco for some time, opened up about her medical history in an interview with Vanity Fair on September 9. She revealed that she would not be able to have children of her own due to medical problems as it would “endanger both her life and the baby’s.”

Admitting that she doesn’t have everything figured out, the singer said, “I’m not some who-knows-what. I’m me, and that’s all I can be.”
‘Whoever… shame on them’
“Never let anybody tell you that you’re not a good person,” the Love On singer said during the dinner interview, for which she was joined by her younger sister Gracie Teefey, 11. “Anyone who tells you that you’re a victim, shame on them. In my book, you’re a survivor,” she said as she addressed the group of women, sometimes directing her words specifically at her.
The Calm Down singer, who was diagnosed with lupus several years ago and has been undergoing a kidney transplant since 2017, reflected on her medical history and shared with Vanity Fair that it was something she “had to grieve for a while.”
Selena Gomez reveals she ‘can’t have a baby’
After revealing that her body would put the lives of both mother and baby at risk if she decided to carry the baby to term, she said, “It’s not necessarily the way I thought it would be. I thought it would be the same as it is for everybody else. But I’m in a much better place now. I look at it as a blessing that there are wonderful options like surrogacy and adoption, which were both great possibilities for me.”
Despite her health challenges, Selena Gomez, who currently shares a ‘very healthy’ relationship with Benny Blanco, is determined to start a family. Gomez has expressed a strong desire to become a mother and is considering options such as surrogacy and adoption to start a family.
