Selena Gomez lost the Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series to Jean Smart for Hacks. She practiced her losing facial reaction a few days before the ceremony.
Selena Gomez went all out at the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony. The actress, who was nominated in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category and lost to Jean Smart for Hacks, was seen clapping when she appeared in front of the camera for a few seconds. It was almost as if she had appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she had rehearsed her reaction. Selena is practicing coping with loss
A fan shared a video on X combining both clips of Selena’s Emmy Awards and The Tonight Show appearances together, which revealed that both had almost identical reactions. Selena knew how she would react if she lost, because she practiced! In the caption, the fan wrote, “Selena Gomez has learned how to applaud when she loses at the Emmy Awards.”
This all happened when Selena appeared on The Tonight Show a few days ago with her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short. When host Jimmy Fallon asked her about her nomination, she said she has been practicing her loser face. She went ahead and showed it off live, shaking her head from side to side and cheering for the audience.
Reacting to the post, a fan commented, “She is so funny!” Another fan said, “Win or lose, Selena is a star! Her dedication to being modest is amazing.” One comment read, “Selena’s sense of humor is just as great as her talent! It’s awesome!” Another comment read, “She went well prepared!”
