Islamabad: Senior Pakistani drama industry actor Tauqeer Nasir has reportedly claimed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has copied his work in one of his films and has not given him due credit.
Veteran Pakistani actor Nasir, who most recently served as Director General of the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad, and has been honoured with several prestigious awards including the Pride of Pakistan, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Best Actor, has expressed his disappointment at not being recognised by King Khan for not being given due credit for his own contributions.
In an interview on the YouTube channel “Zabardast with Wasi Shah” on Monday, Tauqeer Nasir revealed that Shah Rukh Khan often praised his work and sent best wishes to various people.
He said, “Shahrukh Khan is a talented actor. But it is disappointing that he is not recognising my contribution.”
When asked about the film in which Shah Rukh Khan allegedly copied his work, Nasir said: “Shah Rukh’s role in the film ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ was a direct copy of his character in the drama ‘Parwaaz’,” he claimed in the interview.
He said, “Even the detail of the injured leg shown in the film was borrowed from my portrayal in the play.”
Tauqeer Nasir said, “‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ was originally based on the story of Parwaaz written by renowned writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar. Shah Rukh Khan should have given due credit for his inspiration.”
Nasir went a step further and also targeted filmmaker Karan Johar and said that he did not give him and Mustansar Hussain Tarar due credit for their inspiration.
“Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” is a romantic drama released in 2006. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Kirron Kher. The film deals with the themes of marital infidelity and troubled relationships.
