Veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar weighed in controversies around singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film ‘Sardar Ji 3’, with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film, whose trailer has recently fallen, has provoked online backlash due to its time-India-Pakistan tension increased after the terrorist attack.
Javed supports Akhtar
In an interview with NDTV recently, Akhtar came out in support of Diljit, referred to him as “shadow” (poor talk) and urged the authorities to adopt a more sympathetic approach about the situation. “What to do now, shameless. The film was shot first. Usco Pata Toh Nahhi Thi will happen. Pakistanis),” he said.
Javed said that the film was already completed before the April 22 terror attack, and that the situation is being misrepresented to Diljit and the film’s team. According to him, the actor did not proceed with the cast of a Pakistani actress, he had predicted political fall.
“Usko Pehle Pata Hota Yah Vala Han, Toh Woh Todi Na Laa Pakistani actress (did he know something like this would happen, she would not have chosen a Pakistani actress),” Akhtar explained. “I think the government and the censor board should look at the situation with a little sympathy. And say don’t do this again, but since you have made this film before, then release it. But it should not happen again.”
