Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is set to take office for a third consecutive term, marking a watershed moment in India’s political history. Along with him, members of his Council of Ministers will also take oath this evening, signifying the unity and shared vision of the new government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections, winning a total of 293 seats. This achievement has strengthened their position in the 543-member lower house of the Indian Parliament, where the minimum majority figure is 272.

Prime Minister Modi’s victory for the third time has placed him in an elite category, becoming the second Indian leader to achieve this feat after founding Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

As excitement for the evening ceremony mounts, posters of the prime minister-designate have popped up across Delhi, adding to the excitement and festivity.

Around 1,100 traffic policemen of Delhi Police have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Apart from this, an advisory has also been issued to the public regarding traffic route arrangements for the delegates attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests, including leaders and heads of states from neighbouring regions and the Indian Ocean region.

This display of unity and solidarity is a testimony to India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, which emphasises the importance of fostering strong relations with neighbouring countries.
