What really happened
Recently, Shakira was on stage at Florida’s nightclub LIV Miami to perform her song Soltera. She was dancing in a sequin dress on a small stage. In a clip recorded by a spectator, which is being widely shared online, an uncomfortable Shakira noticed a man filming her dress.
Shakira then signaled the person behind the lens to film her face, not her dress, which was from a low angle. It seems that Shakira warned him, because she kept dancing and then abruptly walked off the stage. When she left the stage, she was seen being greeted by security personnel and fans in the VIP area.
Reactions on Twitter
Reacting to the video, an X user said, “This is such a shameful act. Do these people have any humanity left?” Another said, “Shakira, the famous Shakira, can’t even dance to her own song without being sexually harassed and look at the caption, people were filming… men are disgusting, they ruin every good thing!!” Someone also tweeted, “Shakira left the stage after people filmed her up her dress while she was dancing to her new single. People are disgusting.”
One tweet also read, “This is really disappointing behaviour. Artists should be given respect and privacy both on and off stage. It is very important to ensure a safe environment for all.” Someone else also said, “It is very shameful that Shakira was abused during a live performance.” An X user also called out the person who recorded Shakira for having ‘creepy vibes’.
In March this year, Shakira released her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women don’t cry anymore), her first album release in seven years. Shakira and former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué announced their ‘separation’ in June 2022. Soon after, she moved to the US with her sons. Shakira and Gerard dated for almost 11 years before separating in 2022.
