Mumbai:
Veteran Bollywood actor and newly-elected Lok Sabha MP from Asansol Shatrughan Singh on Sunday blessed his daughter Sonakshi after witnessing her civil marriage with Zaheer Iqbal at his Bandra apartment recently.
Speaking to the media, the Trinamool Congress MP said, “Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is handed over to her chosen groom. My daughter looks the happiest with Zaheer. May their jodi remain happy.” He had come to his daughter’s apartment with his wife Poonam.
With the legal formalities of the civil wedding completed, attention has turned to Bastian, the Asian-inspired modern restaurant located on Linking Road in Mumbai.
This rooftop restaurant was founded in 2014 by Ranjit Bindra, Shilpa Shetty and Kunal Jani, and is run by Suvir Saran, celebrity chef and founder of the now-closed Michelin-starred restaurant Devi in New York.
The theme for the Sunday night party is black and red, and a team of decorators is already at work at Bastian, arranging an array of red flowers and laying out the red carpet. DJ Ganesh, known for his eclectic selection of music, will be performing live at the reception.
Meanwhile, Tabu added to the festive mood during the promotional rounds of her upcoming film ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ opposite Ajay Devgn by announcing to the media that, “We are all going to the wedding.”
Sonakshi was accompanied by her close friends Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem on Saturday night. Yo Yo Honey Singh arrived on Sunday with the intention of attending the wedding and dancing without drinking, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh also said that they are all set for the wedding party.
There is a lot of speculation as to whether Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan, who is an old friend of Zaheer’s father and the one who introduced the two, will attend the wedding or not.
Sonakshi and Zaheer, the man she fondly calls her ‘personal psycho’, have been dating for the past seven years. Salman, who gave Sonakshi a Bollywood break in the action-comedy Dabangg (2010), played the role of Cupid.
Zaheer also started his career with the Salman Khan produced film Notebook, starring alongside another debutante actress Pranutan Bahl, daughter of actor Mohnish Bahl and granddaughter of Nutan.
Salman is said to have introduced Sonakshi to Zaheer on the sets of Notebook in 2017.
