New Delhi: Actress Sheena Chohan is all set to make her Hindi film debut in the upcoming biopic Sant Tukram, where she plays the main female role of the 17th -century saint and poet’s wife Avali Jija Bai. The film is scheduled for a dramatic release on July 18, and promises to offer a powerful, culturally rich depiction of a spiritual icon’s life and heritage.
In historical and cultural illustrations, Awali is often seen as a grounded, strong-wishes woman, who challenges and wrestling with intensive devotion to her husband’s divine. Bhumika demanded emotional depth, linguistic preparation and cultural immersion.
Sheena Chohan said, “We aim to inspire today’s generation.” We are telling the original, real message of God Vitthal – that if you believe in heart – anything possible. “
To embrace the character with authenticity, Chohan went extra mile.
“I wanted to make sure that I brought the vision of my director Aditya Om’s Avali Jija Bai and I hired a Marathi translator to bring that character to be fulfilled, who directed me to read the original 15th century historical books and texts on my character Awali Jija Bai. I understand and fit in my character, he said.

The film also stars Marathi actor Subodh Bhav in Sant Tukram’s title role.
