Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, who had earlier confirmed that he would make InnocentThe sequel has recently been said to be trying to rediscover the creative innocence that shaped the first film. As the filmmaker is set to collaborate again with Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah for the sequel, he opened up about working on the film.
with Innocent While screening at the Indian Film Festival of Germany, Shekhar Kapur was present at the festival, where he spoke in detail about the film. He revealed how he was completely inexperienced at the time of creating InnocentAnd it worked for the film.
“It’s like trying to go back to my childhood. And how do I become naive again? Because Picasso said that too. He asked him, ‘What do you really want?’ He said, ‘I want to make paintings like I have never made paintings before.’ And she was innocent,” he revealed while taking a trip down memory lane.
,Innocent Was created by a person who didn’t know anything about it. So I just said, ‘Okay, let me try.’ And so I just had to focus on the story because I didn’t know what a camera was and how it worked and everything. So maybe something worked,” he shared.
He also revealed that he still gets emotional when someone tells him they love him InnocentBut at the same time, he also wonders what it is about this film that still impresses people.
“I still don’t understand because remember, I wasn’t a trained filmmaker. I never made a movie. I never assisted anyone. I didn’t study filmmaking. I didn’t know anything about film. And then one day I made a film and I was a chartered accountant in London,” he said.
“Actually, I even worked as an accountant in Berlin for a while, then I went back and I made a film. There was a certain innocence to it. And there’s an innocence when you’re absolutely naive about That’s who you are, you do things differently,” he added.
So, what are his thoughts about making Innocent again?
“When people say, can you make Innocent again? I say, ‘Can you make me innocent again?'” he said.
