Sidharth Malhotra, who played the lead role in the film sher shahKargil War hero Vikram Batra remembered with a heartwarming post on his 25th death anniversary. Sidharth Malhotra shared a smiling picture of Captain Batra on his Instagram story and wrote, “It’s been 25 years since you created history with the Param Vir Chakra, Captain Vikram Batra, your fearless actions and ultimate sacrifice. Even today, your legacy lives up to the highest ideals of bravery and honour. We remember and honour you for “Yeh Dil Maange More” today and always. Jai Hind.” He added the hashtag “Captain Vikram Batra, 25 years of Kargil Vijay.”

Captain Vikram Batra led his soldiers of the 13th battalion of the Indian Army’s Zakrif Regiment during the Kargil War in 1999. He died on July 7, 1999, at the age of 24 while fighting the Pakistani Army during the war. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest wartime gallantry award, reports PTI. At the 69th National Film Awards, Shershaah won the Special Jury Award (Feature Film).
Shershaah marked a significant role in Sidharth Malhotra’s career. The actor received praise from both critics and audiences for his powerful performance in the film. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee wrote, “Lead actor Sidharth Malhotra has done everything it takes to bring alive a real-life martyr who left a huge aura behind him, but the development of the character’s hardened personality that is rooted in his battlefield courage is presented in a shallow, cliched manner.”
The film was directed by Vishnuvardhan and starred Kiara Advani, Shiv Pandit, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Anil Charanjit, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar and Pawan Chopra.
