Kannada superstar Shivarjkumar has responded to the controversy around a statement by veteran star Kamal Haasan. During the audio launch of the upcoming film thug Life (Released on June 05, 2025), Kamal Haasan made a comment that “Tamil gave birth to Kannada.” The actor’s statement has promoted a line, criticizing him for harming his spirit.
On May 28, 2025 (Wednesday), Kamal Haasan clarified his comment, saying it was an expression of love. He said, “This was a statement of love of Shri Shivna (Kannada Star Shivarjkumar). His father (Dr. Rajkumar) is like my father. We are a family, and therefore other languages,” he said, during the promotion of the film in Thiruvananthapuram. Kamal Haasan said that the debate should be left for historians and language experts. Politicians including him are not eligible to speak about the history of language, said Naikan actor.
Shivrajkumar, who was presented at the audio launch, opened the ongoing dispute. During an event on May 28, 2025 (Wednesday), he said, “Kamal Haasan has kept Kannada in high relation.” “He has only good things to tell about Bengaluru.”
The Kannada actor said, “I am a big fan of Kamal sir. People can ask why I should praise someone else when I have to see my own father (Dr. Rajkumar). My father is a family, while I have great respect for Kamal Sir. I am inspired by him. I know what he has said, and he will give a suitable response.”

Shivrajkumar, while reporting about language issues, urged the media to be responsible. He said, “Your love for Kannada should not be selective. It does not only matter when this kind of development.
